The St. Philip's College education partnership that supports law enforcement success with one of the nation's larger major city police departments saw its final event for 2017.

In addition to San Antonio Police Department recruiting events as a community partner, St. Philip's College hosts SAPD Academy https://sapdcareers.com/the-academy/ cadet graduation ceremonies in the college's 600-seat Watson Fine Arts Center in the City's Denver Heights neighborhood.

The most recent academy ceremony---for SAPD Cadet Class 2017-BRAVO---took place at the college on Dec. 1 with cadets and such authorities as SAPD Chief William McManus and City Manager Cheryl Sculley present https://twitter.com/SATXPolice | https://www.facebook.com/SanAntonioPD/photos/pcb.1662113423808984/1662113213809005/?type=3&theater. In terms of viewership, the academy ceremony is one of the largest social media events involving the college with 10,000 Facebook views reported for the May 2017 ceremony and more than 8,000 views for the Dec. 1 event https://www.facebook.com/SanAntonioPD/videos/vb.379045255449147/1661971157156544/?type=2&theater.

After completing the seven-month academic journey, each graduating cadet class fills street vacancies within the San Antonio Police Department, and the number of vacancies may diminish further following the Dec. 1 ceremony, according to event organizers. (SPC image by Julysa Sosa)
