2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence Eligibility - Top 10
Named to a list of the top 10 community colleges in the U.S. eligible to compete for the 2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation’s signature recognition of high achievement and performance in America’s community colleges. Palo Alto College was selected from a pool of nearly 1,000 public two-year colleges nationwide to compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize and was one of only three first-time finalists for the 2019 award.

National Council for Marketing and Public Relations Gold Paragon Awards
Earned national gold awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations in two categories: Facebook, which was based on content, engagement, and usage of the platform; and Poster Series for Teatro Palo Alto 2016-2017 season.

Top 50 Veterinary Technician Programs for 2018
The only school in Texas to be named to the Top 50 Veterinary Technician Programs for 2018 by TheBestColleges.org. The program, which launched in 1995, has been accredited by the Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities of the American Veterinary Medical Association since 1998 and is one of only five programs fully accredited in the state of Texas.

2018 Best Colleges in Texas
Named as one of the top three community colleges on the 2018 Best Colleges in Texas by BestColleges.com. The rankings are based on key performance indicators including acceptance, retention, graduation, enrollment rates and loan default percentages as a measure of graduates’ success. This is the first year that four of the colleges within the Alamo Colleges District are included in this ranking.

Top 10 Community Colleges by Hispanic Outlook Magazine
Ranked sixth by Hispanic Outlook Magazine list of Top 10 Community Colleges with Highest Percentage of Associate Degree Earners who are Hispanic. The list was based on various factors including information supplied by the U.S. Department of Education, such as percentage of Hispanics in attendance, total student enrollment, two-year schools awarding the most associate degrees to Hispanic students, and percentage of Hispanic students awarded associate degrees by two-year schools.

2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence Eligibility - Top 150
Named to a list of the top 150 community colleges in the U.S. eligible to compete for the 2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation’s signature recognition of high achievement and performance in America’s community colleges. Palo Alto College was selected from a pool of nearly 1,000 public two-year colleges nationwide to compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize and was one of only 15 in Texas selected as eligible for the Aspen Prize.

2016-2017 Highest Rated Junior and Community Colleges
Named the only college in region to earn a national ranking from RateMyProfessors.com, the largest online destination for professor ratings for colleges and universities. On the recently published 2016-2017 Highest Rated Junior and Community Colleges list, Palo Alto College ranks first in the city among all junior and community colleges, top three in Texas, and top 15 on the national list.

2017 Examples of Excelencia
Catch the Next, Inc. Dream Catchers Program (CTN) is named a finalist for the 2017 Examples of Excelencia award from Excelencia in Education, a national organization that focuses on Latino student success in higher education. Palo Alto College is the only CTN affiliate in San Antonio, in partnership with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, to increase the retention and completion rates of underserved students to close the achievement gap for Latino students.

National Council for Marketing and Public Relations Gold Paragon Award
Earned national gold award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations in Communication Success story for “Melanie and Rene”, a granddaughter and grandfather attending Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College at the same time. The story earned national and international media coverage, including major outlets like Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, ABC News, Inside Edition, HLN network’s MichaeLA, and more.

Best of TEXAAN
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College’s Veterans Affairs team received the Best of TEXAAN (Texas Academic Advising Network) at the TEXAAN 24th Annual Conference for their presentation titled "Veterans 101: VA Educational Benefits and the Texas Hazlewood Exemption."

Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Finalist
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College is named one of 15 organizations in the nation to earn a Site Visit Review in Fall 2016 from the judging panel for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA), the nation’s highest award for organizational performance excellence. Palo Alto College is the only educational organization selected to receive a site visit for the 2016 award.

Veterinary Technology program earns national accreditation
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College’s Veterinary Technology program received its continued accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AMVA) in Spring 2016. The program, which launched in 1995, has been accredited since 1998 and is one of only five programs fully accredited in the state of Texas.

CAARE PROJECT named as national best practice
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College’s CAARE (Coaching, Active-learning, Advising, Research, & Endowment) Project is named one of 12 college or university programs in the country to be highlighted by the Alliance for Hispanic Serving Institution Educators for outstanding Hispanic Serving Institution initiatives and use of Department of Education federal funding to create high impact programs. The CAARE project enables talented students to secure a first-rate education and receive support and preparation needed to transfer and graduate with degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs through faculty development, ensuring student success by providing academic advising and tutoring for STEM students.

Rated Highest in Texas among Community Colleges for 2014-2015
 Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College has ranked fifth in the Highest Rated Junior and Community Colleges of 2014-2015 by RateMyProfessors.com, the largest online destination for professor ratings for colleges and universities. The ranking is the highest among all junior and community colleges in the state, and for the second year in a row, the College makes the national top 10.

Texas Award for Performance Excellence
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College receives the Texas Award for Performance Excellence by the Quality Texas Foundation, which recognizes organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability. Palo Alto College, one of three organizations in the state to receive the award, is the only educational organization to win the award since 2011 and the first in higher education to win since 2007.

Childcare center earns national accreditation
The Ray Ellison Family Center at Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College, earns a renewed
five-year accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The Center earned its first accreditation in 2010.

Ozuna Library: 25th Anniversary as Federal Depository Library
U.S. Government Publishing Office presents the Ozuna Library with a recognition plaque to commemorate the library’s 25th anniversary as a Federal Depository Library, which provides the general public with free access to Federal Government information.

Rated Highest in Texas among Community Colleges for 2013–2014
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College is recognized by RateMyProfessors.com. Palo Alto College’s ranking is the highest among all junior and community colleges in the state and is the only Texas school represented in the Top 10.

Legend of the Southside
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College is named a Legend by the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. Each year, the annual Legends Gala honors the contributions and commitments of individuals and organizations that have facilitated growth, community and general betterment of the South Side.

Healthy Workplace Recognition Program Gold Recognition
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College earns gold level recognition for Healthy Workplace in Medium and Large Worksites category. The Healthy Workplace Recognition Program is an initiative of the San Antonio Business Group on Health and the Mayor’s Fitness Council. The program recognizes local employers for their worksite wellness efforts.

Healthy Workplace Recognition Program Bronze Level
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College earns a bronze level award for Healthy Workplace. The Healthy Workplace Recognition Program is an initiative of the San Antonio Business Group on Health and the Mayor’s Fitness Council. The program recognizes local employers for their worksite wellness efforts.

Top 100 Associate Degree Producers
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College is named in the Top 100 Associate Degree Producers in the nation by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education.

Ozuna Library receives awards for 'Library a la Carte'
Ozuna Library receives the Bexar Library Association’s Project of the Year Award for the Library à la Carte project. Also receives Texas Libraries Branding Iron Award: Outdoor Advertising from the Texas Library Association for outdoor advertising and national recognition from the Association of College & Research Libraries, a division of the American Library Association, in the form of the Library Program Achievement Award.

Palo Alto College earns SACS reaccreditation
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College receives reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the regional accrediting body for degree-granting higher education institutions in 11 U.S. Southern states.  With the 2012 reaffirmation, Palo Alto College is fully accredited until 2022.

Palo Alto College recognized by Quality Texas Foundation
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College receives a special recognition award from the Quality Texas Foundation for the College's progress in implementing the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. This is Palo Alto's second recognition from the Quality Texas Foundation, acknowledging the College’s improvements in deploying the Criteria for Performance Excellence.

Horticulture program accredited by national organization
Alamo Colleges District-Palo Alto College’s Landscape and Horticultural Science program has earned accreditation from the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), which sponsors the industry accreditation, driven by the needs of the landscape industry.
