The Alamo Colleges District uses the Baldrige Excellence Framework as an organizational self-assessment and self-improvement framework to increase efficiency, operate effectively, and be accountable to all stakeholders. The Baldrige Excellence Framework helps us assess and improve the approach, deployment, learning (improvement), and integration of key management processes (Categories 1-6). It also helps us examine our performance and improvement in student learning outcomes; other customer-focused outcomes; budgetary, financial, and market outcomes, employee-focused outcomes; process effectiveness outcomes; and leadership outcomes (Category 7). This leads to increased value for our stakeholders; organizational effectiveness, capabilities, and sustainability; and personal and organizational learning.

In 2011, the Board of Trustees of the Alamo Colleges District adopted the Alamo Way policy embracing the Baldrige Excellence Framework as the theoretical framework for improvement to be used throughout the Alamo Colleges. The policy has been updated several times to include the three priorities of the Alamo Colleges District: Student Success, Principle-Centered Leadership and Performance Excellence. The Baldrige Framework for Excellence is our Performance Excellence Approach.
